Biography
Zeshan Q. Khan grew up touring the East Coast, from New York to North Carolina to Florida to Georgia. He attended the University of Florida, branded henceforth as a diehard Gator. An armchair philosopher in training, he double-majored in Religious Studies and English Literature, and minored in archeology and anthropology, graduating with unemployable high honors. Eschewing the charms of a budding fast food career, Zeshan then moved on to the Chicago-Kent College of Law. Having his fill of bratwurst, deep-dish pizza, and Bulls fans, Zeshan ventured west.
Zeshan returned to the ivory tower, getting his Masters in Law in Sustainable International Development at the University of Washington School of Law.
Ever the adventurer, Zeshan moved north to Alaska to clerk for the Honorable Sen K. Tan (retired), and then returned to Seattle to practice law and gain in-depth knowledge of his practice areas.
Zeshan is a member of the Illinois and Washington State Bars He is also a member of the Washington State Bar Family Law and Bankruptcy Law sections, and King County Bar Association (and Family Law and Bankruptcy Law sections). Zeshan speaks Urdu, Hindi, some French (un petit peu) and even a little Spanish (muy basico). He even speaks English occasionally.
Zeshan’s practice emphasizes family law, bankruptcy, general litigation (including personal injury), and drafting simple wills. He is an experienced family law mediator and has published several articles, including co-writing the Family Law Deskbook chapter on prenuptial agreements.
Zeshan also spends significant time volunteering his services, both legal and non-legal. He has lectured to other attorneys on the interplay between family law and bankruptcy. Zeshan mentors young attorneys through the King County Bar Association Family Law Mentor Program, lectures at neighborhood legal clinics, has coached high school runners and gives up periodic Saturday mornings and afternoons with Seattle Works, a volunteer organization committed to various public works projects in the Seattle area. In May 2011, Zeshan was awarded with the King County Bar Association’s Volunteer of the Month award. Later that year, Zeshan was awarded "Volunteer of the Year" by the King County Bar Association and was asked to speak at the "Breakfast of Champions" fundraiser.
Zeshan has served as a pro tem family law commissioner at King County Superior Court. He is a former adjunct professor of family law in the paralegal program at Edmonds Community College. In his spare time, Zeshan is a self-professed motorcycle junkie and during the fall and winter months, it's best not to bother him on Sundays when the Seahawks are playing. Zeshan is also an avid and published photographer. Zeshan took each photo on this website that doesn't have a human in it.
